Skin2Hide : Frequently Asked Questions

What is your Company's policy on using furs and animal skins in your products?

We are leather crafters. A very high proportion of the furs and skins that we use come from animals that are part of our food chain and as such the materials that we are using are a by-product of this process. Occasionally there is a requirement for a more exotic product and when this is the case, our policy is to source and use only recycled materials.

What does Skin2Hide mean by "vintage" and "antique" in their product descriptions.

Inspiration comes from all directions. Sometimes something old or something from the past captures our attention and creates a desire to be worked upon. "Vintage" and "Antique" are adjectives denoting something old, sometimes distressed and even damaged. We use these materials because they have beauty in themselves.

I recently saw one of your bespoke pieces and wonder whether you would be prepared to replicate the piece for me?

We are able to reproduce some of our bespoke pieces although there are limitations. Where natural and/or antique/vintage materials are being used, and this includes fabrics, skins, furs, jewellery and decorative materials, then often an exact match is impossible to make, if indeed it was desirable. Nevertheless if a customer is attracted to a piece we may be able to produce a bespoke variation along the lines of the original idea.

How do I place a bespoke order?

Go to the bespoke section of www.skin2hide.com and enter your details in 'Make an Appointment with Designer'. Please be as specific as you can in the comments field and we will respond to your request as soon as possible.
